GENERAL INFORMATION

 

 1.    All exhibitors must have an ANNUAL/EXHIBITOR TICKET which admits one person into the fair all week.

 2.    Entries may be made at the SECRETARY’S OFFICE at the fairgrounds beginning JULY 1, 2005.

 3.    ALL ENTRIES CLOSE ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 5, at 5:00 p.m.  NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

 4.    Entries must be listed on the GENERAL ENTRY BLANK. No exhibitor will be allowed to make more than one entry in any one class/item number, except in the children’s division.

 5.    Exhibits confined to Mercer County exhibitors, except commercial growers and dealers.

 6.    Children under 16 years of age may exhibit on their parent’s Annual/Exhibitor ticket.  (A maximum of two children may exhibit on a parent’s Annual/Exhibitor ticket.)

 7.    Any article not worthy of a premium because of inferior quality or age, with or with out competition, may be eliminated as the judge sees fit.

 8.    DECISION OF JUDGES IS FINAL.

 9.    All articles will be displayed after judging.

10.   There will be only one premium per item.

11.   The exhibitor is responsible for his exhibit, but reasonable care will be taken of properties.

 

There will be two FLORAL SHOWS

TUESDAY, AUGUST 9 & FRIDAY, AUGUST 12

NOTE: The deadline for entries of both floral shows is Friday, August 5, at 5:00 p.m.

 

 FLORAL RULES:

 1.    All entrants must furnish their own receptacles. A CLEAR CONTAINER must be used for specimens.

 2.    When entry calls for definite numbers, a greater or lesser number disqualifies entry.

 3.    Side buds must be removed when one bloom is called for, but foliage is not to be removed.

 4.    GLADIOLUS are to be displayed disbudded, but let leaves on. Stems should be in proportion with the flowers.

 5.    ROSE SPECIMENS-disbudded-do not remove thorns. Foliage should be left on rose stem. Rose specimens should be labeled as to name, if known.

 6.    There will be only one show for potted plants, and the plants are to remain on exhibit for the duration of the fair. All POTTED PLANTS must have been in the possession of the exhibitor for at least 3 months.

 7.    Foliage exhibited, naturally groomed-no additives or preservatives.

 8.    You are encouraged to name the variety.

 9.    There will be a show for SPECIMENS (cut flowers) on both Tuesday and Friday.  Entries may be made in any of the item numbers listed for either (or both) shows. Be sure to designate on entry form which show you wish to enter.

10.   There will be Tuesday and Friday shows for ARRANGEMENTS. (Check the listing for the different categories.)

        Only exhibitors working on floral arrangements will be permitted to work on their arrangements till 1/2 hour before judging.

11.   JUDGING for the TUESDAY SHOW will be on TUESDAY, AUGUST 9, at 2:00 P.M. All items must be brought to the Commercial Building Annex between 9:00 A.M. and 12:00 noon.

        JUDGING for the FRIDAY SHOW will be on FRIDAY, AUGUST 12 at 2:00 P.M. All items must be brought to the Commercial Building Annex between 9:00 A.M. and 12:00 Noon.

12.   RELEASE TIME:

        Items from TUESDAY SHOW MUST BE REMOVED between 8:00 P.M. THURSDAY, AUGUST 11&   9:00 A.M. FRIDAY, AUGUST 12.

        Items from FRIDAY SHOW (including all potted plants) MUST BE REMOVED between 11:00 a.m. & 4:00 p.m. MONDAY, AUGUST 15.

        No items are to be removed before this release time; not responsible for articles left after above stated release time.

13.   Your premium money will only be available at release time on MONDAY and must be picked up in the floral department along with exhibited items. You must show your season ticket to receive your premium money. Any premium monies not picked up during release time will be forfeited and reverted back to the Mercer County Fair Board.

RULES FOR ARTISTIC ARRANGEMENTS

 

1.        No artificial flowers or foliage permitted in arrangements.

2.        Accessories are permitted in all artistic classes. 

3.        Materials used should be named on a separate card.

4.        Painted or artificially colored DRIED or FRESH plant material are never permitted.

5.        Other foliage is permitted unless otherwise stated.

6.        Only one arrangement per class.

7.        All arrangements must be displayed by:

1:30 PM on TUESDAY and by 1:30 PM on FRIDAY.

8.        Any Exhibitor who has won a 1st place premium will

automatically be advanced to Division A.

NOTE:

Adult arrangements will have two divisions in each class for each show. Exhibitor must designate entry either A or B.
